Every year they gather at the waters edge
They come in swarms of grey and black
To do natures duty
Some are big and some are small
But they all come for the same reason
Now there are fifty
Tomorrow there will be hundreds
As life must go on

It sits empty near the lake
Waiting to come alive again
The furniture is covered in dust and cob webs
Everything is dark now
No one comes around
It remembers the parties
When the nights would never end
The days that the house was alive

The Enslaved

They are all trapped
Trapped in a world of grey
They sing songs of slavery
In their dreams they live in world of color
They pray that the sun will never rise
Life is so dark
It seems it will never end
Until that day
The day their souls are set free

Waves crashing against the beach
Children screaming with joy
The smell of fresh air tingles your nose
The sudden mist of ocean water hitting your skin
You look out and see and endless blue water
The bitter taste of salt water entering your mouth
How sweet it is to be free

The Final Play

He feels the wind blowing gently across his skin. The tempature is just perfect. He walks slowly behind the center, knowing that this play will either lead them to victory or defeat. They where running the classic flee flicker. Everything was just right, the crowd was in a dead silince wondering what was going to happen. The sun was beaming down on him. He got under the center, he checked his wide receivers and said "Down, set, looked again, hut!" He handed it off to the runningback, then he flipped it back to the qaurterback. He looked deep, saw his man open and bombed it. It sailed through the blue sky, a perfect pass, the receiver caught it in the endzone and they had won the game. It was a beautiful pass, catch, and day.

10 seconds

It was a cool, damp Saturday morning. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky and you could tell it was going to be a beautiful day. As his alarm went off, he instantly hit snooze and began to think. Today was the day where ten seconds could change everything.
He has been training for this day for weeks now, trying to get the timing just right. His car was a 97 Honda Civic hatchback with a B18C1 GSR engine that was ported and polished and had a t3/t4 turbo with an intercooler. He has been building this car since he turned sixteen. There wasn’t a stock thing on the engine or transmission.
Today was going to be the first day that this car was brought to the track and the first race he has done in a year. His last race didn’t turn out to good; he crashed and was hospitalized for a month. Then he was driving a 00 Toyota Celica GT.
His name is Tyler and he is twenty years old. He lives by himself in Denver, Colorado. Ever since he was a little kid he has been around cars, his dad owned a junk yard back in Minnesota and he spent most of his time out there. Eleven months has been building up to this day, to this race. This Honda was the last thing his dad and him worked on together. He didn’t touch the car for a year after his dad died. Until he almost faced death in his accident.
He was ready to load the civic on to the trailer. He did one last check over everything on the car to make sure it was ready. He decided to run one hundred shot nos and 110 octane fuel.
After he loaded the civic on the trailer and secured it, he went inside and made himself some breakfast. He had a twenty mile drive to the track, and the race started at eleven am. He had about an hour and half before he had to be there. He was starting to get butterflies in his stomach and he was starting to sweat pretty bad. He calmed down, and realized he had a long time until the race still.
After breakfast he went into his room and said one last prayer asking the lord to guide him and bring him to the finish line safely. He made his way to the truck, locking the door behind him. He hoped in the truck and started the engine and made his way to the track. The whole drive there he was thinking about what had happened to him in his last race. He thought about his dad a lot, wishing that he was there.
As he pulled into the parking lot, he started getting nervous again. He knew that everything had to be perfect, from the moment the light turns green to the ten seconds in between. Every shift had to be perfect.
He got the car unloaded and was patiently waiting for them to call his number to the line. When they finally called his number, he knew that he was ready. The car he was racing was nothing to special; it was a 97 Viper GTS. This car had some modifications done to it. So he knew that it was pretty fast.
He got into his car and started the engine; he slowly moved it towards the starting line. The Viper was already to the starting line, they both warmed up there tires by laying some rubber. Then it was time, they both pulled up to the starting line. He patiently waited for the light to change colors; it was at red then went to yellow that’s when he revved his engine to get ready to launch the car. As soon as the light turned green he dropped the clutch and the car took off, he waited for the shift light to turn on until he shifted. The rpm gauge was climbing fast, the light turned on, he shifted into second as fast as he could, the perfect shift it was. The turbo screamed, as he went through each gear. He was neck to neck with the viper the whole race until he hit fourth gear, that’s when he pulled away. He crossed the finish line with a final time of 10.356 seconds. It was the perfect race. He was untouchable, he had lost his fear of racing and was ready to go to the track again.

The Baby

I was walking down the street heading towards my car to leave for the race. That’s when I heard a whimper coming from the bushes next to me. Out of curiosity I decided to take a peak and find out what it was. When I came upon it I was stunned, my jaw dropped and my mind started racing, I had know idea what to do.
My first thought was just to walk away and get in my car and leave, but when I glanced down again and so those big ocean blue eyes I couldn’t. I bent down, and stayed there for awhile and just thought. This baby couldn’t be much more than two months old.
What a way to spend my Friday night, it was too late to make it to the race so I decided to pick up the baby and bring it back to my apartment. Walking down the street I thought what I should do. I have no knowledge in babies, no one I can ask or turn to. I brought the baby to my apartment and laid it on the couch. I decided to walk back to that bush and look for any notes or anything that could give me a sign on who this baby belonged to. When I got to the bush I ruffled around for a bit and looked through the tall grass but couldn’t find anything.
I figured the baby was hungry so I went and got him from my apartment and walked up to the store and bought some Gerber baby food. I thought that I better get back to the bush incase the baby’s mother came back to pick him up. The baby was a little squirmier, it kept moving, he always wanted to just crawl away but really didn’t know how to. That’s when I smelt it, a smell so disgusting that I knew the baby had pooped. I grabbed the baby and ran up to the store and but a pack of baby wipes and diapers. Then I did the impossible and changed the things diaper. I found out that the baby was a boy.
After waiting about two hours for the mother to come back to the bush, I figured I should probably take the baby back to my apartment so he could sleep. I made him a little bed on my bed so he wouldn’t roll off and get hurt. I woke up hearing a horrible cry coming from the baby, so I ran into my room and picked him up, and as soon as I did he had stopped crying. It made me feel really good and happy. After about ten minutes of walking around the baby fell back asleep and set him down on my bed. I decided to sit up for a while and figure out a plan on what I was going to do thus morning with the baby. When the baby woke up at about 7:30 am I made him some breakfast and myself some also. After we got done eating I decided to head over the police department and see if they could do anything. I walked through the doors of the police department and headed straight for the desk. I saw a couple cops that I knew who had arrested me before. I smiled at them and they glared at me. I asked the nice police officer at the desk what I should do and he told me to grab a number and wait in line.
Finally I got up and asked what I should do, he gave me a bunch of paperwork to fill out, I started filling it all out and after that he told me to bring the baby to social services and they would take care of it from there. I started thinking that I sort of wanted to adopt the baby and keep him. This day that I spent with him had changed my outlook on life completely. When I got to social services I asked if there was way I could adopt the child and they said they would do a background check and let me know.
It turned out that if you have a criminal record you can’t adopt the baby, so they wouldn’t let me. I got pretty sad after they told me that, they ended up taking the child to a foster home and told me to go back home. I think about how different my life would have been if I was able to adopt the baby boy. Maybe some day I’ll run into him again.
