Every year they gather at the waters edge
They come in swarms of grey and black
To do natures duty
Some are big and some are small
But they all come for the same reason
Now there are fifty
Tomorrow there will be hundreds
As life must go on

This is really good! You've succeeded at writing a poem about the suckers, which I have failed miserably at. I think I'd take out "the circle of" and just say "life goes on" to avoid the cliche. Great job!
